Friends of the Earth rated companies according to responses provided to us in our questionnaire in regards to the use of manufactured nanoparticles for sun protection in their primary and secondary sunscreen products. This information is based on company responses received as of 14th November 2011.
In addition to questions about companies' use of nanoparticles, due to strong public interest in the chemicals used in sun care products, Friends of the Earth Australia also includes questions relating to the use of chemical UV absorbers and fragrance.
These brands have provided us with information and claim that they actively avoid using manufactured nanoparticles.
These brands have either:
-
told us that they use manufactured nanoparticles, and/or;
-
use manufactured nanoparticles that measure less than100nm in one or more of the particle dimensions.
